The Different Types Of Vinyl Flooring: SPC & WPC, Which Is Right For You?
When it comes to choosing a new flooring, there are a lot of factors to consider. One of the most important decisions is the type of material you want. In recent years vinyl flooring has become increasingly popular. Within the Vinyl Flooring area there are two separate constructions- SPC & WPC. Both materials offer several advantages, but there are also some key differences between them that we will discuss here.
What is SPC Vinyl?
SPC stands for "Solid/Stone Polymer composite." This type of flooring is made with a core of calcium carbonate (limestone) and a resin binder. The limestone gives SPC its strength and durability, while the resin binder makes it waterproof and resistant to stains. SPC vinyl is also very easy to install, making it a popular choice for DIYers.
What is WPC Vinyl?
WPC stands for "Wood Polymer Composite." This type of flooring is made with a core of Wood fibers, Limestone, a plastic resin and foaming agents. WPC is also waterproof and resistant to stains, but it is not as strong or resistant to scratching and denting as SPC. WPC is usually less dense than SPC due to the lower content of Limestone and addition of foaming agents. This results in a thicker and more cushioned product making it more comfortable and quieter than SPC.
